About Rabbi Sheldon Wayne Moss, D.D., Ph.D.

Rabbi Sheldon Moss D.D., Ph.D. has guided thousands of couples to happier long-term relationships. He was chosen to do the same for the Superpowers, helping them confront each other face to face in order to work side by side. As founder of the Soviet-American Forum he convened the International Human Rights negotiations between East and West during Perestroika.

With Barbara, his wife, Rabbi Moss founded Sunburst Rabbinic Retreat Center, a national think tank located in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. They have been married for 25 years and have four children and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Moss is the Rabbi of Temple Beth Shalom, northwest of Phoenix,Arizona. Since his ordination (Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion 1977) Rabbi Moss has been instrumental in local, national and international programs that foster understanding and cooperation.

His thesis on the synagogue havurah movement, the decentralization of large synagogues into surrogate extended families, is used throughout the United States and Canada to create bonding structures within congregations.

Mikhail Gorbachev selected Rabbi Moss to lead five international conferences between Soviet and American leaders.
Then with the help of his wife Barbara, Rabbi Moss founded Sunburst in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado, the only Rabbinic Retreat Center in North America.

Rabbi Moss has authored two well-known seminars, “Seven Blessings” and “When We Laugh”, designed to enhance long-term intimate relationships.
