I want Sicily to be known all over the world, not because of the mafia or the movie "The Godfather". Sicily is the birthplace of Luigi Pirandello, Vincenzo Bellini, Renato Guttuso, Napoleone Colajanni and Nino Savarese. I am mentioning just some of the many figures who brought honor to my land, from the time of Archimedes to nowadays. I, the last of the writers, wish to honor Sicily as well.
I want the word "Protection" to disappear forever from all the dictionaries. The true man does not need any protection coming from the outer world. The only real protection comes from inside, from the inner fire of which every human being is endowed. Only through the inner energy the individual can be independent and free from conditioning.
I want the word "Recommendation" to disappear from all the dictionaries. Being recommended for getting a job, a pass, a promotion, a chair, it means to be humiliated.
Someone could object: "Your website is too serious, too grim! Could not you find something funnier or less dramatic?" I answer quoting an old proverb of my hometown: "a squagliata a nivi si vidunu i purtusa" which translated means "when the snow melts you will see the holes". After snowing the ground is white, clean, candid, but afterwards, melting the snow, all the holes of the roads will appear. It is like when the old ladies in my town put on their faces a lot of powder for hiding their wrinkles. I want to show myself for who really I am, without using any powder for covering my imperfections.
Many people change their faces according to the circumstances. Through my book I want to launch a message: "Look inside yourself, find what you really are, your nature and never change your mind with regard to the place where you are living or the job you are doing, or the people whom you are coming across to." My message is for the time being. The future does not exist. It is only a possibility, with many alternatives!
